We are currently planning a series of brainstorming and design sessions focused on the development of an online civic platform.

The first session, tentatively scheduled for June 8th, is intended to bring together a group of civic-engagement practitioners and civic-oriented technologists to brainstorm and discuss the tools and attributes of a common online civic platform.

Topics will include:

  • Components of an online civic platform
  • Designing tools that meet the needs of both constituents and their elected representatives
  • Ways of enhancing communication between constituents and their elected representatives
  • Designing tools to support the needs of in-person meetings
  • Discussing the full life cycle of a community issue.
  • Discussing ways in which discussion of local issues differs from that of state or national issues.
